The Mental Health Professionals are:

Dr. Keisha Downey, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (California and Illinois)


Dr. Downey has been helping clients properly cope with severe life challenges that stem from depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, substance abuse, parent-child relationships, and crisis intervention. She works with athletes, actors, musicians, and victims of trauma as well as conducting women, parenting, adolescent, and drug groups.

She is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, an ambassador for the Office on Women’s Health - US Department of Health and Human Services, and an expert panelist for mental health discussions in Los Angeles and Chicago, to include BET Genius Talks, “Being” on BET, a variety of radio shows, such as iHeartRadio-WGCI, and other media outlets. She has been working on VH1’s television reality series, Black Ink Crew Chicago and also Couples Therapy.

Dr. Paula Freedman, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Writer and Educator


Dr. Freedman helps people cope with anxiety, heal from past trauma, and recover from their addictions and eating disorders so that they too can live meaningful, rewarding lives. She specializes in treating high-achieving adults who have a hard time letting go of control and tolerating uncertainty.  She provides training and consultation for other therapists, teaching them how to effectively approach body diversity and reject the diet culture using the Health At Every Size (HAES) paradigm.


She is passionate about helping people develop confidence, inner peace, and self-compassion. She believes that many of us are held back by fear, anxiety, or beliefs about how we "need to be."  She helps individuals dive deep to find their purpose, reject harmful social messaging, and heal their relationship with their mind AND their body.

Dr. Michele Kerulis, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor


Dr. Kerulis works as a sport and clinical therapist in the Chicagoland area with athletes and performers, with specializations in individual and group sports and the performing arts. She consults for collegiate and youth teams, actors, dancers, and singers. She uses educationally based techniques clients can use in sport and in life. Examples of client issues include, but are not limited to, coping with injury, dealing with stress and anxiety, visualization for success, crisis management, motivational techniques, positive outlook, life transitions, setting and obtaining goals, overcoming stage fright, and achieving life balance and wellness. In addition to working with athletes, Dr. Kerulis works with high achieving individuals and individuals to help them attain additional success and manage stress related to success.

EDUCATION


Dr. Kerulis graduated with high honors from Northern Illinois University with a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. She graduated summa cum laude from Arizona School of Professional Psychology with a Master’s degree in Sport & Exercise Psychology. Dr. Kerulis also holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois, Certified Consultant through AASP, and a member of the USOC Sport Psychology & Mental Training Registry.


Robert (Uri) Heller, Ph. D,  Clinical Psychologist


Dr. Heller has been a Psychologist, Coach, and Management Consultant for the past 30 years. He has the uniqueness of being a practicing Clinical Psychologist and Organizational Psychologist. His clinical and consulting experiences widely varies and includes working with the Office of Personnel Management on personal selection systems; helping franchise owners select and develop staff; working with companies in employee and team development; and assisting in disability and return to work cases.

Dr. Heller is an expert in psychological assessment and has been contracted by employers, insurance, and worker compensation companies for diagnostic and treatment recommendations. On the academic side, he most recently he was Co-Chair of the Department of Counseling Psychology and taught the psychological assessment sequences in the doctoral program at Adler University in Chicago. He previously served as chair of Master’s in Public Service and Administrate Service Center at DePaul University and as faculty at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
